ANEW-LIFE

Addressing the Needs of clean Energy transition Willingness of UKRAINIAN cities Leveraging Innovative Financing Examples and measures

Despite the ongoing challenges of conflict, Ukrainian cities are stepping up to lead the clean energy transition. ANEW-LIFE is an EU-funded initiative designed to empower local governments and communities to rebuild Ukraine’s energy systems in a cleaner, more resilient, and future-ready way.

Coordinated by EnGreen, the project focuses on designing and testing innovative financing mechanisms that make urban energy reconstruction both feasible and sustainable. With pilot projects launched in Zhytomyr, Kalush, and Nizhyn, ANEW-LIFE sets the groundwork for broader replication across Ukraine and the European Union.

Key Objectives

Co-Design of Clean Energy Action Plans
Developing bottom-up methodologies and financial instruments that support city-led energy planning.

Innovative Financing Mechanisms
Testing and validating new models based on advanced energy simulations and stakeholder co-creation.

Replication in Ukraine and the EU
Sharing methodologies and results with at least 10 Ukrainian and 10 European cities to encourage wide-scale adoption.

Long-Term Sustainability & Impact
Evaluating the project’s scalability, long-term sustainability, and contribution to Ukraine’s energy independence.

Our Impact

More than just a project, ANEW-LIFE is a blueprint for energy resilience. Through a combination of technical innovation and community-driven planning, we aim to:

Inform and inspire municipal clean energy policy

Demonstrate viable, scalable financing approaches

Contribute meaningfully to Ukraine’s energy reconstruction and green transition

By validating tools and models in real urban settings, ANEW-LIFE creates tangible outcomes with potential for replication across Europe.
